Join us for an afternoon of food, fun and music to learn about the future of Mt. Zion Historical Chapel!
Enjoy a picnic of fried chicken with sides, drinks and a dessert. We will share the exciting plans for the chapel and its future as a place for historic programming as well as celebration and gathering. All proceeds will restore our second historic site, the Mt. Zion Historical Chapel.
Mt. Zion Historical Chapel’s roots can be traced back to the property where it now sits (Mt Zion Cemetery) as of the 1850s. After a move into Burton in the 1880s the church was rebuilt as Burton Baptist Church at the corner of Colorado Street and FM 390. Due to damage by the 1900 storm, the original church was taken down and a new church was built in 1917 by Will Weeren. After serving faithfully at that location, the church was moved to Mt Zion Cemetery
