The Washington Hotel housed Burton visitors for more than 30 years at the site now known as Laas-Weeren Park or "city park." This pre-1900 view also shows the Burton Drug Store and Watson's Store.

March 1973, the Burton Heritage Society organized to preserve and share the history of the community. The organization is still going strong and actively maintains and protects the Burton Railroad Depot and the Mt. Zion Historical Chapel. The Burton Heritage Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
