March 1973, the Burton Heritage Society organized to preserve and share the history of the community.   The organization is still going strong and actively maintains and protects the Burton Railroad Depot and the Mt. Zion Historical Chapel. The Burton Heritage Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
